Early this month there was a blog on salaries for your new local job. On this post we will look at what is known perks, incentives and additional benefits. In future blogs we can go through in more detail again but for general purposes I will provide readers of this post a general outline.
As I suggested in the earlier blog you may have done your research and managed to obtain a reasonable market salary for your industry sector whether you are temping, temp to perm or starting a permanent role of employment.
Nevertheless money isn’t everting, even though our minds make us believe it. The fact is if we all had additional perks, incentives and benefits – it would cut your personal expenditure down. Therefore leaving a few extra “shillings” for you and the family. That sounds good initially but bear in mind depending on the nature of your job role, status and duration the employer will not include every additional perk, incentive and benefit on offer. It’s all a case of negotiation and ensuring that you and the employer are satisfied with the overall expenditure that will be incurred.
As indicated depending on your job status and industry sector the list may differ slightly.
Therefore the local employer could offer one or more of the following :
- Vehicle: Company/Executive
- Private Health Care
- Local Gym membership
- Travel schemes & Air-Miles
- Pension scheme: Workplace/Private
- Flexible Working Hours (“flexi-time”)
- Home Based
- Shares / Stocks
Think long and hard before accepting these perks incentives and benefits because the employer requires something in return. As mentioned there may have been a golden handshake at the interview but this is a totally different subject. Yes you surpassed several hurdles of applications, CV & Interview. Nevertheless it’s costing your local employer a lot of money to obtain a vehicle, smartphone, etc…Can you provide ROI (Return of Investment) for all the additional extras? If so don’t hesitate say YES, accept the job and go for it….if your having doubts again over your ability – just be honest and say No Thank You to certain perks incentives and benefits and take the salary you negotiated and start your local job via Nimble Recruitment for the ideal West Midlands employer.
